As summer rolls on in Montana, so do the events that see locals and tourists heading out to celebrate music, culture, and the great outdoors.
July holds special mention for popular events with both the Montana Folk Festival and the Big Sky County State Fair offering plenty of events.
The Montana Folk Festival, for example, brings people into Butte from across the country to check out four days of unique and popular music.

Whitefish Arts Festival

- About: Artists from across the country are represented in the Whitefish Arts Festival. Metal sculptures, paintings and photography, woodworking, pottery, jewelry, clothing, and home decorations are just some of the featured fine arts.
Montana Folk Festival
- Date: July 8-10, 2022
- Address: Multiple Locations, Butte, MT
- About: Featuring multiple stages with continuous live performances by some of the best traditional performers in the nation, including Montana’s finest, some of the region’s best traditional artists, ethnic and festival foods, a lively Family Area, two fine traditional art markets and Folklife demonstrations and workshops that focus on a new theme each year that highlights Montana’s heritage.
Art in the Park
- Date: July 15-17, 2022
- Address: Kalispell, MT
- About: Arts in the Park is the Flathead Valley’s longest-running, premier arts, crafts, and music festival held in Kalispell’s historic downtown Depot Park. Put on by the Hockaday Museum of Art, the event has over 80+ juried arts and craft booths, local food and drink, live music, and children’s activities.
Big Sky County State Fair
- Date: July 20-24, 2022
- Address: Bozeman, MT
- About: Montana’s biggest state fair, 4 days of amusement, rides, live music, and concession.
Last Chance Stampede and Fair
- Date: July 28-30
- Address: Lewis And Clark County Fairgrounds, Helena, MT
