Montana Events in January

While January offers up some of the coldest Montana Weather, that has not stopped the locals and tourists from celebrating.

Whether it is bringing events indoors for conventions or embracing the cold with ice sports-related events, there is still plenty of annual events for those coming to Big Sky Country.

2022 Annual January Festivals in Montana

Valier Ice Fishing Derby

  • Date: January 15th
  • Address: Valier, MT
  • About: This annual fishing derby takes place at Lake Frances in Valier, MT. Entry fees are $25 per participant with a 100% payout going to the top three biggest Perch and Pike! There is also a 50/50 raffle.

The Great Rockies Sports Show

  • Date: January 20 – 22, 2023
  • Address: Metra Park ExpoCenter, Billings, MT
  • About:  The Great Rockies Sportshow is jam-packed with hundreds of exhibitors showcasing a variety of outdoor-related goods and services ranging from lodges and outfitters to RVs, boats, and power sports. Also in attendance is a multitude of outdoor advocacy clubs and various showcases of leisure tied to the great outdoors. 

SNoFLINGA Montana Winter Festival

  • Date: January 21-23 2022.
  • Address: Various Locations in Butte, Montana
  • About: Billed as “Montana’s Winter Festival” SNöFLINGA is a FREE community-sponsored festival that looks to turn the cold weather into a series of fun events across Butte.  Celebrating winter sports, from riding a bike on the snow to ice-skating events, there is an abundance of things to explore and experience during this weekend-long celebration.
