The History of Music Ranch

Music Ranch was built by Karen and Frank Smith. Both Karen and Frank grew up with an interest in music and dance, with Karen’s family having a music and dance hall above their farm shop, and Frank growing up enjoying singing.

Although Frank grew up in Canada, he moved to Montana to have a better chance of success with his business TowHaul.

When the two married in the 90s, they started the first Music Ranch Montana in Belgrade. Today their daughter Kim Wild runs the TowHaul corporation and her brother is the Vice President and manager of the IT department for the company.

TowHaul continues to support the ranch financially today. The family has also moved the ranch to Paradise Valley near Livingston, Montana where they now live.

Today the theater hosts a variety of musicians and is popular with both locals in Livingston and tourists alike. The site has hosted several successful concerts and remains a beloved venue by country fans.

Music Ranch is also well known for having a great community and food, and each year it has continued to improve.

With it being close to the north Yellowstone entrance too, the venue is also great for those who wish to enjoy both nature and music while visiting Montana.

Facilities and Food

The theater is situated in a barn structure and offers three seating options. Section A offers indoor seating close to the stage and performers while Section B and C are outdoors. Section C also does not provide seating, so most guests bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on.

There is a kitchen on the west end that opens at 5 pm on show days and 6:30 pm on dance days. The kitchen does not sell alcohol but guests can bring their own drinks as long as they drink in moderation.

Music Ranch also has camping and free indoor restrooms. There are RV and available without hook-ups that are free on concert nights. There is a pack in pack out rule at the venue, so make sure to take any trash with you when you leave.

The facility also has a store that sells merchandise for the venue. Guests can buy t-shirts, mugs, CDs, and other merchandise.
