This YMCA Riverbank Run is an established, family-friendly event open to all ages and abilities. The run also serves as a fundraiser for the local YMCA, with proceeds from entrance tickets being used in support of local youth programs.

Participants run through the streets of Missoula to help raise money for the various YMCA benefits and programs that can be life-saving for some.

On top of promoting awareness of a worthy cause, the Riverbank Run also aims to raise awareness of the importance of a fit and healthy lifestyle, with entrants ranging from fun runners or walkers to professional athletes.

When Was the Run Established?

The 2023 event sees the fun run in its 50th year! Since 1972, the YMCA Riverbank Run has been gaining weight as a springtime tradition for Missoulians. And with entrant numbers in the region of the 4,000 mark, the event shows no signs of slowing up.

What Kind of Courses Are Featured?

Entrants can choose from four different options by way of a 1-Mile, a 5K, and a 10K run. The fourth event is the signature run known as the Trifecta, which entails running all three of the other events and a total of 10.321 miles.

The four-race options ensure the YMCA Riverbank Run offers everyone the chance to run for fun and a good cause! Virtual race options are also available, and participants receive a race t-shirt for finishing one or all of the courses in their own time.

Race Start Times

  • 10K: 9:00 am
  • 5K: 10:30 am
  • Trifecta Mile: 11:30 am
  • 1 Mile Fun Run: 11:45 am
