Missoulians have traditionally set aside the second Sunday in August for close to two decades now. The main reason is the Symphony in the Park, the free concert at the city’s Caras Park featuring the Missoula Symphony Orchestra.

You can bring your own lawn chairs and blankets to help get comfortable, as you settle in for a summer evening filled with the pop and light classical sounds.

Onsite, you will also find food vendors and a beer garden. The event also puts money toward a good cause with 2022 donations going toward the local food bank.

Let’s take a closer look at Missoula Symphony in the Park so that you can mark it on your calendar the next time you plan on visiting Big Sky Country.

When was the Event First Established?

The event was first put into the public eye back in 2005 with the idea of a summer showcasing of the symphony’s sounds. The event proved to be such a success that it quickly turned into an annual event.

The event attracts thousands each year to Caras Park park in August with sights and sounds well worth beholding.

What Kinds of Activities and Events are featured?

The event will typically feature a different theme each year which could come by way of movie themes, pop classics, light classical sounds, or something else entirely. Food and beverage vendors will also be onsite serving a range of drinks and snacks.

Entry Fees and Tickets for the Event

This is a free event but donations are encouraged. This is entirely at the discretion of guests though and is not a requirement for attending.

For the last four years or so the Missoula Food Bank has been the worthy recipient of donations from attendees due to its growing prominence in the community.
