Traditionally held on the first weekend of June, the Moss Mansion Springfest has been celebrated in Billings for over 30 years.

Hosted along the broad, beautiful green grasses of the Moss Mansion Museum, the festival celebrates local Montana art and culture. It features a fun-filled day of live entertainment, shopping, food booths, and activities for kids and families.

Out-of-town visitors gather with Billing’s locals in the side yard of the historic Moss Mansion as they ring in the Summer by celebrating the local art and cultural scene.

With over 50 regional musical and visual artists and a wide selection of food and specialty booths, the Moss Mansion Springfest is guaranteed to provide a memorable day for the whole family.

Located at 914 Division Street in Billings, Montana, admission to the festival is free. However, when visiting the grounds, guests would be remiss not to venture into the Moss Mansion itself.

Built-in 1903, the Museum is a preservation of early Billing’s development and culture and explores the inner workings of a local turn-of-the-century family. The Museum operates from 10 am to 4 pm, and regular admission fees apply.

The festival traditionally kicks off with a delicious pancake breakfast that starts about a half-hour before the park gates open. The festival itself operates from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, during which time guests can tour the grounds and explore over 50 specialty booths.

In these pop-up shops, artists feature handcrafted pieces that include jewelry, metal sculptures, photography, leather goods, paintings, pottery, and much more.

With many booths featuring artists demonstrating their work, visitors can explore the artistic processes that go into creating the cultural handcrafts of Montana’s more traditional items.

Alternatively, guests seeking further entertainment and sensations within Montanan tradition should head over to one of the park’s three stages—the driveway, the veranda, and the courtyard. Here visitors can explore the sights and sounds of many local live performers from Billings and surrounding areas.

For visitors looking to explore the state’s more edible cultural experiences, the festival also offers a variety of food trucks serving a selection of local delicacies, tacos, and burgers.

Also served onsite are countless beverages, including mimosas, Bloody Marys, wine, and locally crafted beers. In addition, the park offers homemade baked goods, ice cream, and kettle corn for dessert.

And of course, the festival offers a myriad of family fun activities for your little ones. The designated children’s area comes fully stocked with various games, face painting, cotton candy, and snow cones.

To add a little history to your exploration of Montanan culture, be sure to visit the Moss Mansion Museum itself. Initially built in 1903 by Preston Boyd Moss and his family, the building is a preserved monument to early 20th-century residential architecture and family life.
